Mission in the Holy Lands means learning about the dynamics of conflict. The worn out adage that there are two sides to every argument is too simplistic to describe the present circumstances in the Holy Lands. Mission means sorting through many variations of truth and our fact finding mission exposed us to as many perspectives as possible within the time constraints of the program. At every juncture, the "Road Map" was examined, but our instinct to be optimisitc eventually gave way to the somber realization that the Road Map does not correct the flaws of the Olso Process. During the course of meeting with representatives of many bands of the religious, political spectrum, we did not find one who considered the Road Map a promising way forward for Israelis and Palestinians

Samwel Aviyatar, Director of Christian Affairs for the Jerusalem Municipality (left), interpets a Zionist perspective of Jerusalem while Hagi Ben Artzi (right), a fundamentalist Jewish settler in the West Bank, lectures the delegation on biblical mandates for jewish settlement in all of Palestine. Palestinian perspectives were presented by Dr. Hanan Ashrawi (below left), Dr. Mustafa Barghouti (below) and Mrs. Cedar Duaybis (below right). There is no shortage of maps, facts and figures to support mutually exclusive perspedctives.
