This pilgrimage will acquaint participants with the geographical, historical, and cultural settings of the Old and New Testaments. It will awaken enthusiasm for study of the Bible and relate historical studies to contemporary dynamics in Jordan, Israel and the West Bank. It will acquaint travelers with the nature of Christianity in the Holy Land with particular interest in exploring the role of the Church in peacemaking. The pilgrimage will include morning and evening fora on historical and contemporary themes and visits with indigenous people. This pilgrimage is designed to introduce particpants to the state of the art of biblical studies in the Holy Land. The learning process will be contextual and experiential.

Day 1 Depart U.S.A.

Day 2 Arrive Tel Aviv, overnight in Taybeh.

Day 3 1st Century House/House of the Parables, Jericho (Joshua 5-7, Judges 1: 27- 36), Baptismal site-Qasr al Yehud (Mk. 1:1-12; Mt. 3: 1-4:17; Lk. 3: 1-22; 4: 1-13; Jn. 1: 1-42), Jordan River Valley. Overnight Galilee.

Day 4 Kibbutz Mishmar ha Emek (Lydia Aisenberg), Caesarea Maritima (Acts 10), Megiddo-time permitting (1 Kings 21), Nazareth (Matt 2: 23, Luke 1: 26- 38, Lk. 4: 16-30), The Basilica of the Annunciation, Sisters of Nazareth Convent (koch tombs). Overnight Galilee.

Day 5 Capernaum, Tabgha, Church of St. Peter's Primacy (John 21), Church of the Multiplication of the Loaves (Mk. 6:30-44), Mt. of the Beatitudes (Luke 13: 10-21, Matt 5- 7, 11: 20- 24, Mark 4- 6, John 21), boat ride on the Sea of Galilee, Wadi Hammam, Beit Shean (time permitting). Overnight Bethlehem.

Day 6 10:00 AM Worship, Christmas Church (Lutheran), Old City walking tour, Church of the Nativity (Lk 2; Mt 2), Herodion (time permitting), Shepherd's Fields, (time permitting). Overnight in Bethlehem.

Day 7 Hebron (Gen 13, 23), Cave of Macphelah/Ibrahimi Mosque, Hebron- meetings with Jewish activists, Al Sira (the Negev), visit Bedouin villages, lunch with Bedouin family ($12 per person donation), glass factories. Overnight Bethlehem.

Day 8: Tent of Nations, Mt. of Olives overview and orientation to Jerusalem, Dominus Flevit (Lk 19:28-44, Mk 14:32-52), Garden of Gethsemane, Israel Museum (2nd Temple Model, Shrine of the Book). Overnight in Bethlehem.

Day 9 Masada, Qumran, The Dead Sea, Wadi Qelt overview. Overnight in Jerusalem.

Day 10 8:00 AM Harem esh Sharif/Temple Mount (subject to confirmation), Old City walking tour including the Western Wall, Via Dolorosa, Lithostratos, Church of the Holy Sepulchre (Mt. 27-28; John 20). PM forum: TBD. Overnight Jerusalem.

Day 11 Return to the U.S.A. or join the 4 day elective and continue to Jordan.

Day 13 Full day exploration of Petra, Overnight in Wadi Musa.

Day 14 Shoback Castle (overview), Madaba, Mt. Nebo. Overnight in Amman or Bethlehem.
